About us

For almost 30 years we have been cultivating the forgotten art of papermaking, combining traditional production methods and recipes with modern ecology.

We are not a factory.

We are a Paper Mill.

We share our passion. We don't just make paper – we also show how we make it. We run our own papermaking workshops and demonstrations for schools, companies and institutions. We promote recycling and eco-friendly attitudes. We promote Polish craftsmanship. Paper is our passion.

Paper is in my blood

I founded my first company, where I made paper by hand and promoted handicrafts, almost 30 years ago. The beginnings weren't easy. I recreated recipes from old, dusty books, because even then true masters of the craft were scarce.

I started small, but with a vision. Today ART-PAPIER is not just my passion – it's a professional workshop. Even though we handle runs of thousands of pieces, every sheet still passes through our hands. Nothing is left to chance. But there is room for nature – that's why our papers don't end up in the bin; they sprout, getting a second life.

— Flawiusz Pietrzyk, founder and papermaking enthusiast

We create in the heart of nature

Our paper mill isn't located in a concrete industrial zone.

We live and work in the buffer zone of the “Cistercian Landscape Compositions of Rudy Wielkie” Landscape Park.

Such neighbours come with obligations.

Water management: we work in a closed loop. We respect water.

100% natural: only cellulose, recycled paper and seeds.

Energy: we use our own renewable energy sources, without EU subsidies.

Traditional mould, modern scale

Grinding and pulp

30 years ago we started out experimenting with the iconic “Frania” washing machine. Today its place has been taken by professional equipment for pulping cellulose. This gives us a perfectly smooth pulp from selected recycled paper and cellulose, ready for larger-scale production.

Adding the seeds

At the key moment we add certified Polish seeds (flowers, herbs or vegetables) to the finished pulp. We still carry out this step with the greatest care, mixing the pulp so as not to damage the seeds and to guarantee they will germinate.

Hand scooping

Despite the large scale, we haven't abandoned tradition. Every sheet is formed by hand on a mould by an experienced papermaker. We press out the excess water. The paper then goes to the drying room, where we evaporate the water under controlled conditions without overheating the seeds.

Printing and finishing

The finished, dry paper goes to our print shop. Here craft meets technology – we print your design (with seed-safe colour inks) and cut or die-cut the paper into any shape on our presses.

250 000+

sheets a year.
That's how much we can produce while keeping the quality of hand scooping.
